ONE LD
ONE LD
Better together.
Who we choose to be in the most difficult of times determines who we can be in the most prosperous.
The mission of #OneLD is to lift and strengthen our community by choosing optimism and hope.
A community-led series of temporary murals, #OneLD, will enliven street edges, create visual unity, and promote community engagement throughout the Leather District.
BRINGING THE LEATHER DISTRICT TOGETHER
It's about us
#OneLD is a collective effort led by residents, property owners, and business leaders to bring positivity and brightness during difficult times to the Leather District. (The "LD" as we call it around here.)
We're creating a series of murals starting first with temporary designs on glass throughout the Leather District. The idea is simple: using a set of shared stencil motifs and one color palette to create temporary designs unifying the neighborhood for a few months this summer and fall.
We hope this leads to more awareness of the LD and energizes our community.

ABOUT US
It started with a pandemic.
LD neighbors Kate Gilbert and Aaron Luckman got together for a walk during the early months of the Covid-19 pandemic bemoaning the beloved restaurants and stores of the Leather District. They ran into neighbor Noam Ron on the street and the rest, they say, was history.
Gilbert brings curation and public art production know-how from Leather District-based public art curator Now + There.
Luckman brings project preparation and engagement expertise as a preparator at the Museum of Fine Arts and Now + There’s Joy Parade Coordination
Ron brings generational knowledge of the Leather District as well as management experience and financial assistance from Hudson Group.
Silvia Lopez Chavez brings mural painting and design expertise with a community-minded approach to public art collaborations.
ABOUT THE LD
It started with Leather.
The Leather District is a small neighborhood just east of Chinatown, nestled between Dewey Square and Kneeland Street. The nine distinct blocks are noted for their nineteenth-century brick warehouse structures. The leather industry and related wholesalers who first worked here required space for display, offices and workshops, thus, ground floor display windows dominate these buildings, set in sturdy cast-iron columns. Since the 1980's the Leather District has grown into a mixed-use community, and it is now home to a variety of commercial and residential tenants. Learn more here.
